The laces of these Nike Montreals undo themselves automatically. Just like the smooth leather inner side, the laces are also smooth. They have a serious profile, but are so synthetic that they do not grip enough. Unless you pull them on as hard as the hand brake of your car. The soles are quite narrow, a bit puma speedcat like. Still stable.
